For my Typography 3 course, I was given the prompt “illusion” and asked to create a mind map to see what topics I could come up with from a simple prompt. I somehow ended up with the guiding question: “Why does depression and anxiety affect my body so negatively and how should I cope with these depression and anxiety?"
In response to my guiding question, I made a book and a motion graphic and prototyped a website. The main challenge of this project was trying to showcase a visual language that captured the chaotic, out-of-control feeling mental illness has on people, while ensure the visual language was not distracting the audience from the main content.
About

Book Design
The book features different styles. For example, the first half of the book explains how and why depression and anxiety affects one's health and features glitch boxes and error tabs with cool indigo and purple colors. The images and color scheme are meant to portray how depression and anxiety negatively affects one's health and leads to a feeling of being "broken" or dysfunctional.
The second half of the book explains coping mechanisms and features doodles on a lined notebook paper with warm lime-green and green colors. The images and color scheme are meant to portray the warmth and peace that comes with health coping mechanisms.
Spreads
Here are some of the spreads that I designed for this book.
Website Prototype
I created a small website prototype using Figma.
I created a short motion graphic using Adobe After Effects to promote the book.
